We have different types of braces and will help you go through the options and find the best type of braces for you. Read below for a descriptions of all the different types of braces and clear aligners we offer.
Recent improvements in traditional braces have made them smaller, stronger and less noticeable. Metal braces are the most common type of braces, and are more comfortable now than ever before. With metal braces, you have the option to customize your smile by choosing different colored elastic ties - the little donut shaped rubber bands that hold your arch wire in.
Ceramic braces are made of clear materials and are less visible than metal braces. Generally, ceramic braces require a little more TLC because they are more fragile than metal braces. Patients who choose ceramic braces must maintain excellent oral hygiene to help keep the elastic ties from discoloring. Because ceramic braces require a bit more care, they are popular with adults and older teenagers.
Self-ligating braces are made from the same materials as traditional braces. However, self-ligating braces do not require the use of elastics. Self-ligating brackets use lower force mechanics that are more comfortable and faster. This system typically reduces treatment times and requires fewer orthodontic appointments. This means less school or work time missed.
Invisalign® and Invisalign Teen®
Invisalign® uses a series of clear, removable plastic trays to gradually straighten teeth, without metal or wires. Invisalign aligners are practically invisible and allow patients to eat and drink whatever they want. It is also easier to keep your teeth clean while wearing Invisalign and the trays can be removed for special occasions. Invisalign is not the best option for all orthodontic problems, and can only be worn by teens and adults.
